Frequently Asked Questions
Who teaches your classes?
All of our classes are taught by experienced Registered Nurses who have additional speciality training in Perinatal Nursing and are Certified Childbirth Educators. All of our instructors are actively working in healthcare facilities across BC and are passionate about working with expectant parents and newborns.
I am a midwifery client. Can I still take your classes?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our customers are midwifery clients and we provide information tailored to you and your maternity provider.
I am having a homebirth. Do you provide information for people giving birth at home?
Yes. Our classes cover information about homebirths and hospital births.
When should I take your classes and when should I register?
We recommend that you schedule to take a class between 32-36 weeks of pregnancy.
Our classes can fill up quickly. We recommend that you register for our classes when you are between 20-22 weeks.
Where are your classes?
Our classes are offered online in either a group or private setting. Private in-person classes are also available in some locations. Our online classes are offered to anyone in BC allowing you to participate in our classes from the comforts of your own home or from wherever you feel most comfortable. Specific information will be provided for the hospital you are planning to deliver at. Homebirth information will also be provided.
Our private in-person classes are currently offered in Vancouver (and surrounding areas). Depending on instructor availability, we may be able to accommodate other communities as well. Contact us for more information if you would like a private in-person class.
I see that you are located in Vancouver and surrounding areas. I am in a different community in BC. Can I still take your classes?
Yes. We have people from all over BC who take our classes. Since most of our classes are offered online, expectant parents from all over BC can join our classes. Our instructors will provide you with specific information for the BC hospital you are planning to deliver at to ensure that you have the information you need for the big day. If you are planning to give birth at home instead of a hospital, information will be provided for that as well.
I live outside of BC. Can I still take your classes?
Yes. The great thing about online classes is that you can take them from anywhere. The information provided in the classes related to pregnancy, labour, childbirth, newborn care, breastfeeding, etc will still apply whether you give birth in BC or somewhere else. However, please note that when it comes to the specifics about hospital, birth centre, or home births, our instructors are only able to provide information related to communities in BC.
How many people are included in the class price?
The cost for out classes includes the expectant person and a support partner.
If you have additional people wanting to join you, please contact us for more information.
What happens after I register?
You will receive a confirmation email of your registration within 24-48 hours after purchasing a class. This email will include additional information and resources to prepare you for your upcoming classes with us. If you registered for an online class, we will send you all of the links required to join the virtual class. A confidential questionnaire will be included which will allow you to provide us with more information before classes start so we can tailor our classes to meet your needs.
